1st XI vs OG's 1st XI
With the average age of the OG's line up changing radically from approximately 40 years to below 30 years of age and some ex-big names called up to defend their title of this annual event, our 1st XI were up against some formidable competition.
After a slow start losing two quick wickets, Torr and Myers formed a partnership until Torr played the wrong shot and departed. Boshi joined Myers and stuck around for a bit extending the total to the nineties. A few wickets fell soon afterwards including Myers for a well played 41. Then Wallbridge and Higgins put on a match saving partnership that really made the OG's sweat for every ball they chased and took the total from 140-6 to over 200.
With the rain that we had all week and on Friday as well, this would have converted to over 250 runs. We ended up on 219-8 with R Wallbridge unbeaten on 52 after 50 overs.
The best OG bowlers were C Price (3-41) and M Bentley (last year's 1st XI captain) 3-31.
OG's began their innings with B Boshi and K Higgins firing down some good quick deliveries and keeping them on the back foot. Boshi got rid of the top three batsmen and when B Curran came on and got rid of Bentley the writing was on the wall for this OG side. No batsman really got going and our bowlers kept a tight line and contained this side and wrapped up a fine win which we have not done for some time. J Ives looked good taking three wickets.
To Mr G Macdonald and his youthful side we thank you for the opportunity to play OG's in this annual match and thank all those who made the day possible including Mr V Lewis (Grounds); Mrs H White (Functions) and Mr and Mrs G Robinson (OG's).

Congratulations to R Wallbridge who was presented with the bat donated by an OG in London, Mr T Quinton, for the 'Man of the Match' with his unbeaten half century. We thank Mr Quinton very much for his annual donation!
