Waterpolo

The aim of St. George's Water Polo is to develop and teach young men about the game of Water Polo.  How to play the game as well as working together, which comes with all team sport. We also aim to coach each boy to reach his full potential as this is obviously fundamental to team success.

How to meet our aim?

In order to meet this aim we have to start from scratch as none of our pupils will have played competitive Water Polo before they come to St. George's. We start with basic skills for the young under 14s. These skills are developed and advanced for each level and the high quality coaches are tasked to teach the boys these skills as well as understand that tactical positioning and play. The national age group structure for Water Polo is such that Form 1 and 2 play together as under 15, Form 3 and 4 play together as under 17 and the sixth form plays as 1st team. With the nature of the game, we strive to develop young talented players early on while endeavoring not to neglect the older players.

Coaches

At St. George's we have been blessed to have the services of Mr. Rob Hammond as our 1st team coach. He is undoubtedly the best coach in the country and has been a vital cog in the great success for Water Polo at St. George's. Our juniors are coached by Brendon Brider who is also a National age group coach. Mr. Gavin Coope, another knowledgeable coach, also assists with the under 15 age group.
