Table Tennis

TABLE TENNIS Navigation Head of Table Tennis: Mr S. Nyamariwata. Terms Table Tennis is played: All year round Table tennis is a fairly new sport that was introduced to the College sometime in 2017 and has become very popular amongst the students of St Georges College.

Tennis

TENNIS Navigation Head of Tennis: Obeddy Mlalazi   Terms Tennis is played: 1st & 3rd term St George’s College has four representative teams U14, U15, U16, and 1st team, each consisting of eight players. The school is in the “A” league along with Prince Edward school, Peterhouse boys, Hellenic Academy and St John’s College. The college expects the young ladies and gentlemen to exhibit the highest level of sportsmanship and integrity. They are expected to develop skills and knowledge of the game in order to be able to enjoy themselves whilst competing against other top schools. In addition, they are naturally expected to work hard to take their game to the next level. Sport in general and tennis, in particular, is arguably one of the highest paying professions in the world. The college has proudly produced tennis players who have represented this country with distinction at home and abroad.

Water Polo

WATER POLO Navigation Head of Water Polo: Mr B. Brider.Terms Tennis is played: 1st & 3rd Term St George’s College has teams represented across all age groups from under 14 to 1st team (under 20). The school has a proud history in the sport and has won many national trophies over the years. The College Water Polo section has top coaches who strive to develop the players from form 1 and provide them with the individual skills to perform to the best of their abilities.Currently our under 14 and under 15 teams are coached by Mr Rob Hammond and the under 17 and 1st Team are coached by Mr B. Brider. Over the years, the College has proudly produced water polo players who have proudly represented Zimbabwe at national level and as well as internationally.

Soccer

SOCCER/FOOTBALL Navigation Head of Soccer: Mr H. Sakarombe First Team TIC: Mr. I. Shone Second Team TIC: Mr. B. Dzuda Under 17 TIC: Mr A. Chamba Under 16 TIC: Mr Chadya Under 15  TIC: Mr T. Mungate and Mr Chimbetete Under 14 TIC: Mr Mahwehwe and Mr A. Chishawa Soccer at St George’s College is one of the most popular winter sports.  Each team is coached by competent and qualified coaches with Teachers in Charge for administrative roles. All teams play in the Northern CHISZ league comprising schools such as: Peterhouse Boys, St John’s College, Gateway High., Westridge High and Watershed College. A number of friends matches are also played with schools around Zimbabwe. In the CHISZ Under 20 league, Top 2 winners from the Northern Region will play Top 2 from the Southern Region. The College also actively participates in the National CHISZ Tournaments annually. The 2022 CHISZ edition was hosted by Lomagundi and the College finished third out of the 19 schools. A sizeable number of our players were selected into the CHISZ National Squad to tour South Africa. There are also other Northern Region CHISZ Tournaments for Under 15 and 16 age groups and both were won by St George’s College in 2022. Over the years, the College has produced prolific and outstanding players who have gone on to play in the local and South African leagues.
